Robotic Top Pad Inserter

N.E. Engineering’s Robotic Top Pad Inserters automate the repetitive process of placing protective top pads on finished units before they enter the strapping process. By replacing manual pad placement with robotic handling, the system provides consistent positioning while reducing repetitive labor and helping maintain the speed of the finished goods line.

The system utilizes dedicated top pad loading stations where multiple pad sizes can be stored and made available to the robot. Based on the dimensions of the unit being processed, the system selects the appropriate pad and accurately places it on top of the unit before it moves to the strapping operation.

For high-speed finished goods lines, automated top pad placement can be critical to maintaining overall system throughput. A manual operation at this stage can become a bottleneck as production speeds increase, while inconsistent placement can affect product protection and downstream handling.

NEE and TVC can integrate the robotic top pad inserter with the surrounding conveyor system, unit identification, pad storage, and strapping equipment. The system can be configured around the pad sizes, unit dimensions, production rate, and available floor space to provide a reliable automated solution.

By combining robotic handling with automated pad selection, NEE and TVC can help eliminate a repetitive manual task, improve consistency, and keep finished goods moving efficiently through the final stages of production.
