N.E. Engineering’s Shuttle Cars provide a flexible way to create temporary openings in a conveyor system where access is required for equipment, personnel, or facility traffic. While maintaining a permanent gap in the conveyor, the shuttle car moves into position when material needs to pass and retracts when access is required.
Shuttle cars are particularly useful at machine infeeds and sheet lines where the conveyor system may need to open for machine access, forklift traffic, maintenance personnel, or other facility activities. The shuttle travels in the direction of conveyor flow and can operate at speeds of up to 60 feet per minute.
This approach allows facilities to maintain automated material flow while still providing the physical access required to safely operate and maintain the equipment surrounding the conveyor. NEE and TVC can engineer the shuttle around the required opening, conveyor elevation, unit characteristics, travel distance, and surrounding equipment.
